The Ferryboat
She's walking in front of sadness
we follow to a hole in the ground
the urn's slowly sinking ://:
A wooden cross with a name I know well
some words then silence around
noone knows an answer ://:
The ferryboat leaving the quay
will never come back
all passengers dressed in black
sailing heavenly seas
they hoist a black flag
all passengers will never come back
Music is filling the graveyard
over the clouds up to the sky
a mandolin's missing ://:
ferryboats sail on forever
we all will be taken on board
some sooner some later ://:
Roses and toytrains and 102 years
rest in peace, dear charming guy
we are singing our goodbye ://:

Jig for Massimo (piece for 5 string banjo)
Posted on 21. Maerz 2017 by risottodirk
I was asked to play some banjo on the funeral of Massimo Ferri, a musician friend,
so I sat down grabbed my banjo that I hadn't touched for a long time and started
to play. While playing and thinking of Massimo this tune came into being. On the
funeral my fingers didn't exactly follow "the instructions" but I somehow managed
to play it with some minor "accidents".
Massimo was a good guitar and mandolin player and had a great sense of humor. I will miss him.
